HALMAHERA – Recently, South Halmahera (Halsel) regent Hi. Usman Sidik took an inspection tour of the Gane Luar bridge, whose project was handled by PT Gelora Mandiri Membangun (GMM). Built within the village bounds in South East Gane Subdistrict, North Maluku Province, the walkway is 70m long and 3m wide with the height of 3m.

GMM’s Director Yang Hyun Tak joined the regent and relevant government service officials on this tour. Representing the regional government, Hi. Usman said he was grateful the construction ended. “Thank you, PT Gelora Mandiri Membangun, for completing this project. Back then, when heavy rain and high tides came, locals and students could not access the puskesmas (community health center) and school,” he said.

The bridge was a request from Gane Luar residents and village government, which later got brought up in a courtesy call with PT GMM February last year. On the visit, the regent suggested the company take care of the construction work.

PT GMM followed up on the idea and soon launched the project on 28 February 2022. Construction wrapped up by late June 2022, with a total of Rp223,550,261 spent. The project was also a company responsibility in terms of public infrastructure development, as implied in their CSC (Corporate Social Contribution) program.

Gane Luar bridge functions as the village’s main path to puskesmas and school

The bridge helps drive equitable development in inland areas, as locals can now benefit from it. “That’s because it serves as the main path towards the puskesmas and learning center,” a village member, Jufri, explained. (PR)
